Carolina Maneuvers: An area of around 10,000 square miles between Fort
Jackson and Fort Bragg in North Carolina was used by approximately
350,000 troops of the First Army, two armored divisions, and tank and
aviation units in the most comprehensive maneuvering exercises in the
nation’s history from November 3-30.
